Don't be a victim

A superhero skill to strive for is to avoid self pity. Charlie Munger joked, every time you find yourself drifting into self pity, take one of these cards:

"Your story has touched my heart. Never have I heard of anyone with as many misfortunes as you."

But Charlie lived it. Late into his 90s Charlie's body had failed him, he lost sight in one eye from a botched surgery and was losing sight in his remaining eye. But he could still read - the one thing he still loved.

After a doctor's visit following an eye infection he was told that he would likely lose complete vision. Without hesitating, Charlie responded:

Well, I guess I have to learn Braille.
